Greetings from Havre de Grace - Havre de Grace is an historic town in Maryland at the confluence of the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay. Through interviews with local residents, this lighthearted and lyrical film examines the origin and meaning of the town's name, the concept of grace and one's need for it, and whether or not any location truly can be considered a "harbor of grace."Click here for more info.

BFF Special Event: A Call to Action

This BFF Special Event begins with a screening of the animated short Why I'm Moving to Maine.Click here for more info on the short.
The BFF Special Event continues with a screening of A Call to Action,a documentary that captures the story of how a motivated group of musicians and fans created HeadCount, a grassroots non-partisan, not-for-profit voter registration organization. It features appearances by a dozen musicians and longtime supporters, including superstar Dave Matthews, Bob Weir of The Grateful Dead, Trey Anastasio of Phish, Marc Brownstein of The Disco Biscuits and Grammy-winner Bela Fleck. A Call to Action mixes music, interviews and concert footage to tell an inspirational story about culture and political organizing. Click here for more info.
To conclude the evening, Director Chris Gasper, a Bangor native, will be conducting a question and answer session.

Discussion Panel:The YouTube Movement - FREE!!!
When: 4:00 p.m.
Where: Peakes Auditorium
The Bangor Film Festival is proud to offer this FREE event. The discussion topic will be the affect of YouTube and similiar online venues on independent film. The event will include screenings and discussion.
Filmmakers Lounge Presented by Magic Hat Brewing Company
When: 5:00 p.m.
Where: Whig and Courier Pub
The Filmmakers Lounge event will take place at 5PM on August 16th at the Whig and Courier Pub/Restaurant at 18 Broad St. in downtown Bangor. The event is designed to bring filmmakers whose work is being showcased at the festival together with members of the local film community, industry leaders and members of the press in a casual atmosphere. The event is a chance to network with other filmmakers while enjoying food, drinks and music provided by Magic Hat Brewing Co.
The lounge is free for filmmakers whose work is being showcased in the festival and guests can buy tickets at the door for $5. For more info email us at guests@bangorfilmfest.com.
28-Eighty Shootout Competition Screening
When: 7:00 p.m.
Where: Bangor Opera House
Please join us for a screening of the entries in the 28-Eighty Shootout Competition, in which teams had 2880 minutes (48 hours) to write, shoot and edit their films. The competition yielded outstanding films at the competition last December and we expect the same this time around, so don't miss out! Audience members will have a chance to vote on their favorite films.
