2007.12.30 Personae wins First Annual 28-Eighty Film Shootout Competition

The 2007 Bangor Film Festival served as home for the first annual 28-Eighty Film Shootout where filmmaking teams had 48 hours (2,880 minutes) to write, shoot and edit their film submissions. The films were viewed and scored by a combination of audience vote and our panel of guest judges. Bromine Productions of Bangor emerged victorious on the evening winning the award for Best Overall Film for their entry “Personae” (click to watch the film). Other awards given out went to Mr. Cody Productions’ film “Cold” for Best Interpretation of the Prompt, the award for Best Actor went to Ian Bagley for his role in “Personae” and the Best Actress award was a dually awarded to Jana Savage in “Cold” and Alison Chaub for “Going Places”. Special acknowledgement went to team Happy Lanes, who faced possible incarceration for their entry “Dental Damn”.

A packed audience watched the ten film entries with great enthusiasm as this years entries covered everything from comedic mocumentary, to crime caper and even dueling guitar gods. Each film team was challenged to create their film submission based on a musical prompt. Each film was required to use the same piece of music in any way that they wished. The only stipulation was that the the music had to exist in the world of their film and at least one character had to acknowledge that they could hear the music (You can listen to the prompt and view the completed films here). The caliber of entries in the inaugural competition had the judges, audience and festival organizers very excited to see what filmmakers in next years competition will do to raise the bar.
